The Supreme Court’s Dobbs ruling, overturning Roe v. Wade, returned the decision to restrict or protect abortion to states. In many states, abortion providers and advocates are challenging state abortion bans contending that the bans violate the state constitution or another state law. Additionally, new questions have arisen regarding the intersection of federal and state authority when it impacts access to abortion and contraception.

* Originally, the Attorneys General from 12 states (Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Rhode Island, and Vermont) had filed this lawsuit. Since it was filed, the Attorneys General from Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and D.C. joined this suit.<br> ** The Attorneys General from Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and West Virginia joined this lawsuit.<br> *** This case was consolidated with another case (West Alabama Women's Center v. Marshal, <a href="https://www.aclu.org/cases/west-alabama-womens-center-et-al-v-marshall-et-al?document=Complaint-West-Alabama-Womens-Center-et-al-v-Marshall-et-al">No. 2:23-cv-00451</a>), where two clinics and an ob-gyn challenged the same application of Alabama law.<br> ****Challenged restrictions in Missouri include an abortion telemedicine ban, an in-person counseling requirement, a 72-hour waiting period, a prohibition on advance practice clinician provision of abortion care, and a law restricting post-viability abortion care to physical health emergencies. <br> <sup>1</sup> Wyoming court dockets are not publicly available online, therefore updates to this case may be less frequent. <br> <sup>2</sup> The Attorneys General from Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah requested to intervene in this lawsuit.<br><sup>3</sup> The 17 states that are a part of this litigation are Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, and West Virginia.
